Submerged within two acres of English countryside in the picturesque village of Peaslake, Surrey. The site is located outside of an identified settlement area within the Surrey Hills Green Belt. The original site was previously used as a commercial landscape business with associated offices and greenhouses. The ‘Project Brief’ was to develop further the extant planning consent for a detached contemporary designed house with amendments to re-position the proposed detached garage below ground and attached to the new home; and amendments to the interior layout and exterior materials to create a luxury low energy detached home achieving an Energy ‘A’ Rating status.
The dramatic contemporary design for the new expansive home sits partially sunken into the ground, which allows the home to be sympathetic to the immediate and local surroundings with minimal visual impact. Coupled with the use of bold exterior materials surprisingly creates an opposite visual effect whereby the home appears softer against the surrounding mature trees and meadow landscaping.
Modern methods of construction and materials on a fabric first approach, utilised with the latest in renewable energy generation and storage has meant the house achieving an ‘A’ rating on its Energy Performance Certificate.
At the heart of the home’s control room is the installation a Loxone Smart Home Automation System providing unparalleled levels of intelligently-automated comfort and control for lighting, heating and ventilation.
