Downhouse Road

Catherington, Hampshire.

Set within a part employment and part residential backland site south of the village Clanfield, outside of any identified settlement boundary, in Catherington, Horndean. The subject site lies on the eastern side of Downhouse Road and is accessed via a long, straight, single carriageway track. The surrounding properties have long, narrow rear gardens with limited amount of development to their rear – notable exceptions being a replacement dwelling in close proximity to the subject site.

The Project Brief was to create 4no. dwellings with associated external works and extended driveway access.

The traditional design with a contemporary twist and positioning of the dwellings have been influenced by the context of the surrounding pattern of residential development. The design considerations behind the proposal for a sensitive back land development makes the best use of this previously developed site whilst complementing the character and amenity of neighbouring development.
